Hiring Now: Senior Geoscience Leader — Exploration, Resource Development & Integrated Geological Modeling
Fugro is seeking a highly capable, visionary, and results-driven Senior Geoscience Professional to join our expanding exploration and resource development division. This role is intended for a dynamic individual with strong technical mastery, deep experience in multi-disciplinary geological workflows, and the leadership acumen to guide teams, influence stakeholders, and deliver best-in-class technical outcomes.
This position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to strategic growth initiatives, lead advanced exploration programs, and drive data-driven decision-making across a diverse portfolio of mining, energy, and geotechnical projects.
🎯 Role Overview
As a Senior Geoscience Leader, you will play a central role in shaping and executing Fugro’s exploration, characterization, and resource evaluation programs. Your work will span geological modeling, geospatial analysis, exploration program design, resource estimation, geoscience data integration, and the development of innovative solutions that enhance project value and operational efficiency.
The position requires a blend of technical depth, interdisciplinary thinking, and real-world field experience. You will collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, data scientists, GIS specialists, and external stakeholders to generate actionable insights and translate complex datasets into robust exploration and development strategies.
Your contributions will directly strengthen Fugro’s technical excellence, decision-making agility, and long-term business growth.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
1. Geological & Geospatial Data Integration
- You will oversee end-to-end integration of geological, geophysical, geochemical, remote-sensing, and geotechnical datasets. This includes interpretation of multi-scale information to produce coherent and defensible geological frameworks.
- You will utilize advanced GIS and 3D modeling platforms—Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine, ArcGIS, or equivalent systems—to generate subsurface models, domain interpretations, and structural frameworks.
2. Exploration Program Design & Execution
- A core responsibility includes designing and optimizing exploration programs across greenfield and brownfield environments. This comprises drilling strategy, sampling protocols, QA/QC frameworks, preliminary resource evaluation, and project ranking at both prospect and district scales.
- Your strategic plans will be guided by globally recognized standards and field-tested methodologies used in mineral exploration, particularly those outlined by:
AusIMM’s JORC Code guidelines
Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) Best Practice Recommendations
3. Resource Estimation & Technical Analysis
- You will lead and review resource estimation workflows such as domain modeling, statistical analysis, variography, block modeling, and classification in alignment with international reporting codes.
- Your expertise ensures that resource statements meet technical excellence and compliance requirements.
4. Innovation & Business Growth
- You will contribute to high-impact initiatives that leverage geoscience innovation—machine learning, remote-sensing analytics, 3D visualization, automation, and cloud-based geodata ecosystems.
- A strong ability to conceptualize and deliver innovative, commercially meaningful solutions is essential for supporting Fugro’s growth strategy.
5. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- This role requires a leader who can mentor multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with clients, interface with regulators, and deliver clear, concise, and technically robust communication.
- You will manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize changing demands, and maintain operational efficiency even in challenging or remote field conditions.
🎯 What You Bring
- Candidates who excel in this role typically demonstrate:
- Mastery of Major Geological & GIS Platforms
- Hands-on capability in Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine, ArcGIS or equivalent enterprise-grade systems. You should be comfortable building 3D geological models, running geostatistical analyses, managing spatial databases, and integrating multi-source datasets.
- Deep Technical Expertise
- The ideal candidate has advanced experience in:
Exploration program planning (mapping, drilling design, sampling)
Geological modeling & structural interpretation
Resource estimation workflows
Geoscience data management and integration
Application of remote sensing and geophysics
• Proven Leadership & Communication Skills
- You will be expected to lead, mentor, and guide teams while engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Clear articulation of technical concepts—both verbally and in writing—is essential.
• Adaptability in Remote Field Environments
- The ability to work under shifting priorities, manage field operations, and maintain productivity under sensitive logistical constraints is important.
