 WE ARE HIRING!

Exploration and Research Geologist

Location: Brooke’s Point, Palawan, Philippines
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Mine Engineering and Geology Department

A great career opportunity awaits a detail-oriented, analytical, and field-ready Exploration and Research Geologist who is passionate about mineral discovery and geological science. This role is ideal for a geologist who enjoys hands-on fieldwork, rigorous data interpretation, and contributing to the long-term geological understanding of a mining operation. You will join a professional team dedicated to safe, responsible, and efficient mineral exploration in one of the country’s most geologically important regions.

About the Role

The Exploration and Research Geologist will assist in planning, executing, and evaluating mineral exploration programs designed to identify, assess, and define mineral resources—particularly those associated with nickel laterite environments. This position requires a strong combination of field skills, technical geological knowledge, and an ability to interpret diverse datasets including geological, geochemical, and geophysical information. You will be expected to work in remote field settings, collaborate closely with the Mine Engineering and Geology Department, and adhere to strict protocols around safety, data integrity, and environmental compliance.

This role is ideal for geologists in the early stages of their career who wish to develop strong mapping, sampling, logging, and modelling competencies while contributing to meaningful mineral-resource development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Fieldwork, Mapping, and Sampling

  • Conduct detailed surface geological mapping—including lithological, regolith, structural, and alteration mapping—to support exploration targeting and resource development.

  • Implement and oversee surface geochemical sampling programs, such as rock-chip sampling, stream-sediment surveys, and soil geochemistry across priority areas.

  • Assess geological exposures, document field observations, and ensure accurate recording of sample locations and metadata.

Drilling Support and Data Collection

  • Assist in supervising RC and diamond drilling programs to ensure safe, efficient, and technically sound operations.

  • Perform geological logging of drill core and chip samples, ensuring correct classification of lithology, mineralization characteristics, weathering profiles, and geotechnical parameters.

  • Validate and enter field data, ensuring strict adherence to quality control protocols and exploration data standards.

Geological Interpretation and Modelling

  • Analyze field results, geological logs, assay data, and geophysical datasets to contribute to geological interpretations and mineralization models.

  • Use advanced software tools—such as ArcGIS, MapInfo, Micromine, and Leapfrog—to generate maps, sections, 3D models, and other technical outputs required for exploration reporting.

  • Identify potential targets, formations, hazards, and mineralized trends relevant to nickel laterite systems.

Regulatory and Environmental Compliance

  • Uphold all relevant environmental regulations, exploration permits, safety guidelines, and company procedures.

  • Support the preparation of documentation and reports required for compliance with local regulatory bodies.

Data Integrity, Documentation, and SOP Compliance

  • Collate and integrate sample data, drilling information, and surface mapping results into the exploration database.

  • Ensure the daily flow of data—from field collection through validation to database storage—follows established Exploration Protocols.

  • Organize and archive field notes, sample ticket books, hard-copy logs, and other technical documentation to maintain audit-ready records.

  • Perform additional tasks assigned by supervisors related to exploration logistics, reporting, or field coordination.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Geologist (PRC).

  • 1–2 years of geological experience, preferably in mineral exploration.

  • Proficiency in modelling and mapping software (Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Micromine, MapInfo).

  • Experience in drilling operations (RC and diamond drilling) is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of geological modelling, remote sensing, and sampling techniques specific to nickel laterite deposits.

  • Understanding of open-pit mining operations and how geological knowledge supports extraction planning.

  • Strong leadership potential, with the capability to guide exploration crews during field programs.

  • Physically fit and willing to work in remote or rugged environments.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, and capable of working independently or within a multidisciplinary team.
